Abstract

The article is concerned with the description of linguistic and cultural image of the world recorded in the Polish tradition — in Christmas songs (carols). The author refers to the methodology of research on the linguistic image of the world. She attempts to reconstruct selected motifs connected with the miracle of God’s birth, which are recorded in Polish Christmas carols. She analyses such elements of carols as images of the Three Wise Men, animals as well as the scenery and the circumstances of the God’s son’s birth (here: time, town, place, the sky and phenomena in the sky).
