Abstrakt: | Siedem rozmów o poezji (“Seven Conversations about Poetry”) was published in Toronto in 1990,
and consists of a set of impromptu dialogues, conducted and recorded by Florian Śmieja, poet, professor,
translator of Spanish and Spanish-American poetry, with Polish poets, prose writers, historians
of literature, editors of journals, and university professors. Śmieja’s interlocutors are: Tymon Terlecki,
Jerzy Pietrkiewicz, Janusz Ihnatowicz, Stanisław Barańczak, Krzysztof Lisowski, Julia Hartwig, Artur
Międzyrzecki, and Wacław Iwaniuk. These conversations are evidence of Śmieja’s keen interest in the
Polish intellectual milieu both in the diaspora and in Poland, as well as his eagerness to participate
in the current life of both environments. The book provides a varied and rich context for the study of
contemporary Polish emigré poetry. |
