Ameryka jako doświadczenie, mit i metafora - o "Podróży na najdalszy Zachód" Andrzeja Kijowskiego

Abstract

The paper is a critical reading of Andrzej Kijowski’s Podróż na najdalszy Zachód (“Journey to the Farthest West”). The author notes the generically mixed character of the work, which is simultaneously a journalistic account, an essay, and an autobiographical text. She also compares it with similar accounts by other writers. Above all, however, Dutka examines the portrayal of America that emerges from Kijowski’s book and invites to be encapsulated in such categories of description as: experience, myth, and metaphor.
