dc.description.abstract | This article is an attempt to explore and comment upon the characteristics of the phenomenon
of old age presented in short stories A Clean, Well‑Lighted
Place and The Old Man
and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway and two paintings by Edward Hopper Hotel by the Railroad
and Second Story Sunlight. The analysis of the form and content of the works allows to
observe a common, dismal vision of the old age. Old age is connected with a feeling of alienation
and solitude which the artists conveyed by using elements of nature, light, and space. | pl_PL |
