Deficyty badań w zakresie socjologii

Abstract

The author, raising the issue of gaps in sociological studies in Silesia, refers it to a historio‑cultural space of Upper Silesia within the borderline of the Republic of Poland, with Cieszyn Silesia and part of Opole voivodship. In the space of Silesia understood in such a way we deal with one big gap regarded as the lack of sociological studies which tackle a given sociological problem in an intentional way, considering it in the context of Silesia as the region creating socio‑cultural frames in which the very phenomenon is analysed. The author formulates basic postulates which should be taken in sociological studies of this region into account in the future: from the elimination of gaps in specific studies and the need of interdisciplinary studies to the integration of the research environment.
