Abstract: Psycho-physical consequences of unemployment are visible above all with the prolonging period of unemployment. The classification of people being temporarily and permanently unemployed has resulted in defining important differences appearing between these groups. The results obtained constitute an important source of information concerning above all the consequences of a prolonging period of unemployment. The analysis conducted shows that people having no job for more than 12 months enter into a further stage of unemployment with a lowered level of the features examined. What is interesting, however, is the fact that the very state is not ultimate yet susceptible to changes. One of the factors influencing the person permanently umeployed is social support he/she becomes. The adequacy of support, increasing with a prolonging period of unemployment, undeniably helps an individual in dealing with the current situation.
