| Abstrakt: | The purpose of this paper is to examine the interpretation process of the garden path sentences, such as (1) – (5), in the light of Sperber and Wilson’s (1986/1995) Relevance Theory and to demonstrate the potential this primarily pragmatic framework has for explaining the processing failure caused by factors that are linguistic rather than pragmatic in nature. |
