Abstract

The research is performed on selected (sub)discourses of gender. The aim of the article is to demonstrate that the onomastics of discourse may encompass not only the frames delimiting the immediate context of the use of a name in a given verbal text. It is possible to broaden the scope of this notion provided that one accepts the idea of the open reading of discourse. Then, the observation will include various manifestations of its realization, which can be seen in the hyperdiscourse of gender. The analyses conducted confirm the abundance of semantics and functions of proper names in the discourse under research, their connection to colloquial connotations and stereotypes, but also their evident productivity, especially in the case of artistic instantiations. Proper names are an important vehicle of meaning for gender discourses, as well as a complement of the theses and observations formulated therein, as they frequently focalize essential information, but also allow to go beyond the frames of those discourses, relating the participants of a discursive community to other spheres of culture.
