Abstract: In the text the question is asked of how to educate children beginning with the very youngest. Attention is paid to two issues: Different types of activities (including preparation) taken by an early primary education teacher, the head of the educational process, whose work is most critical to the quality of the process; The possibility of the genuine, intelligent participation of students in the educational process and the capitalization of knowledge about learning. The tasks that are currently given to teachers are discussed in the context of the latest core curriculum for early primary education. Attention is drawn to the importance of different types of teachers’ competences, with particular emphasis on the praxeological competence. The analysis is focused on preparatory activities – the planning and designing of educational activities by a teacher in cooperation with their students. The concepts of active learning are referred to, which offer opportunities for taking such co-operative activities, while demonstrating the feasibility of a valuable and comprehensive integral education. Selected results obtained by means of the author’s tool – “The instruction to study the subjective characteristics of students’ activities” are presented.
