Między zwierciadłem a lampą : rola romantycznej "metafory umysłu" w poezji Zbigniewa Herberta na przykładzie wiersza pt. "Elegia na odejście pióra atramentu lampy"

Abstract

The late elegy by Zbigniew Herbert has so far been interpreted according to its literary order as reminiscense and farewell of concrete real objects remembered from childchood (a pen, ink, lamp). The author proposes to interpret this poem against a background of the motif of a lamp in all poetry by Herbert. The lamp, as opposed to a mimetic mirror, entails in art a transition from imitation to expression described above all by M.A. Abrams. A Romantic theory of cognition, in line with its deconstruction presented by J. Culler and S. Perry, becomes an important context to understand the poem and poetry by Herbert in general, especially the way of understanding the role of creative imagination it plays.
