Warna i Burgas. Kierunki transformacji społeczno-ekonomicznej największych ośrodków nadmorskich Bułgarii

Abstract

The paper deals with the chief aspects of the so-cio-economic transformation of Varna and Burgas, the biggest cities on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. On the basis of available statistical data, comparison of their population, social, economic and infrastructural development are also provided. More, geopolitical, cultural and economic functions performed by Varna and Burgas, including the sphere of tourism, transport and industry are underlined. At the end of the article, the author’s conclusions about basic similarities and differences, positive and negative results of the transformation of Varna and Burgas after 1990 are presented.
