Abstrakt: | The essay presents an analysis of the series of „cathedral” poems written by Julian Przyboś, including Notre Dame, In front of Notre Dame after the years, Notre Dame III. When examining the semantic field, covering the vocabulary characteristic for these writings, one can im ply that the poems a llow to conceive the consecutive
stages o f the route passed by Przybos w h ile considering the essence o f the process of artworks originating.
His evolution leads from the firs t enchantment w ith the architecture, through interrogation about the builder o f the works, about the enigma of their creation, to the self-determination of the poethimself. I t corresponds with the transformation of the lyric subject from the mere observer into an originator cast in a romantic
mould.
The series is crowned with the poem The Cathedral in white; the poet attains-here to the comprehension of his place in the world, and-what is important — in the art conceived as an integrate form.
Viewed from this position, the poems make a self-contained composition, although they we re written in the run of many years. Only when treating them as a whole, a reader can perceive the interacting images arranged into the expressive autothematic pattern. |
