Abstract

The first part of the article contains the description of the education system in the Czech Republic. It focuses on the organisation of education and the contents of teaching as well as on the methods of evaluating. The second part describes our experiences connected with the studies at the University of Ostrava being a part of the student exchange programme—Erasmus. The third part focuses on the problem of teaching English language in Polish and Czech kindergartens and primary education institutions. It depicts the differences in teaching this language based on observations gathered during our stay in the Czech Republic. This part also deals with our experiences gained in these institutions, and also it presents the reflections that arose during our participation in the practices and the Erasmus programme.
