Abstrakt: | This article describes the person and works of Miljenko Jergović — a contemporary Croatian and Bosnian writer. Since the fali of Yugoslavia the author of the famous collection of short stories entitled Sarajevski Marlboro has consistently demonstrated his pluralistic identity, thus protesting against the attempts at negating the polyphonic and hybrid character of Bałkan cultural space. Jerović’s attitude and opinions exemplify the phenomenon of a postmodern apatride — that is voluntary statelessness. In the cultural understanding of the term a postmodern apatride is a person who is distrustful of structures and demands of their country, especially of those resulting from modernity, homogenisation and order-creating ideals. It is a person who assumes the position of an apatride for fear of narrowing and closing of boundaries as well as in the name of crossing boundaries without immigration control. |
