Abstract: In her work, the author, firstly, orders and describes lexical means of expression of different kinds and degrees of conjecture (a truthful notion), taking into account the relation of synonymy between them. Secondly, she diagnoses the awareness and abilities of secondary school students in terms of truthful notions and their synonyms. Thirdly, the author indicates the justifiability of the existence of truthful notions in the school practice, the stages of teaching, and the thematic circles. The realization of the aims given constitutes the content of the chapters in this work, as well as their parallel structure. In each chapter, the author starts with theoretical considerations on subsequent problems (Chapter I — truth from the perspective of various scientific fields, Chapter II — epistemic modality, truthful notions in the language system, Chapter 111 — definitions and classification of synonyms, the synonymy of truthful notions, Chapter IV — truthful notions in school curricula and Polish lessons) to, subsequently, in the light of the above-mentioned, present the results of the research conducted (Chapter I - a linguistic picture of truth in secondary school students’ expressions, Chapter II — the respondents’ knowledge of truthful notions, their meanings and functions in expressions, Chapter 111 — the synonymy of truthful notions in students’ language, and/or didactic implications (sets of exercises and lesson plans for primary, gymnasium and secondary school students).
