Wokół Hauptowskiej wariancji

Abstract

The article is an attempt to describe the multidimensional variance of Zygmunt Haupt’s prose. Discussing the particular narrative strategies, occuring in his short stories, the author emphasises the borders “evoked” by the actualisation of variants, which is reflected in the discursive and genological classification of the analysed texts. In the short stories under analysis, certain elements have been distinguished, whose coexistence within the frames of one text or one collection of stories enhances the variant dimension of the prose. These variants regard: (1) verbal and written communication; (2) utilitarian, folk and artistic dimensions of the ways of organising a literary work; (3) a recollective relation (real — probable — fictional); (4) referential and fictional strategies present in the structure of a retrospective short story; (5) the figure of the utterer, i.e. narrator-storyteller, narrator-character of the events, narrator-writer; and (6) the narrative and meta-narrative.
