Abstract: | The article raises the issue from the circle of the poetics of a contemporary Polish
cartoon. The first part of the work presents selected motives of the genre history
and, subsequently, formulates a hypothesis that there exist devices shaped by a
modernist art and means typical of the culture of post-modernity in the latest Polish
“cartoon narrations”. The attitude of the authors of a contemporary cartoon is defined
by not only a mercenary-ludic intention, but also the orientation on the experiment
(Śmiercionośni by Łukasz Ryłko) and a turn towards grotesque (Osiedle Swoboda,
Człowiek paroovka). “Cartoon stories” from the 2000s also “go through” the
current trend on the last decade of the People’s Poland and refer to the postmodern
“nostalgia”, making a pastiche of the existing codes of a historical nature (a modernist
image of the city, an artistic and popular movie, literature, plastic arts, etc.). |
