Abstract

A current stage of demographic transition, the Silesia province is in, distinguishes the decrease in the number of population which follows expending the labour resources. It is not later than in 2025, a post-war baby boom shall reach a beyond-retirement age. Among two major causes of aging, which influence the lives of both the societies and the individuals, the prolonged life span and decline in productivity prevail. This leads to a different ratio between the number of elderly people, and those in working age. The said phenomenon is additionally enhanced by migrations of senior citizens, a scale of which is not currently vast; however, it is to extend in the years to come. The aim of the study is to identify the regularity of the migration of senior citizens from the Silesia province and indicate the tourist attractiveness of such places.
