Abstract: The paper aims to present the issues of exclusion of people with a visual or hearing impairment from social, cultural, and political life, that results from poor or no access to information. The article concerns the actual matters of accessibility to audiovisual media services to people with a visual or hearing loss. It presents common policies aimed at bridging the information gap in the information society and discusses legal regulations that are important in encouraging media service providers to ensure that their services are becoming gradually accessible to people with visual or hearing impairments. That is why, the main subjects of the present contribution are the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) adopted on, the Directive 2010/13/EU of The European Parliament and of The Council of Europe of 10 March 2010 on the coordination of certain provisions laid down by law, regulation or administrative action in Member States concerning the provision of audiovisual media services (Audiovisual Media Services Directive), along with Polish regulations in this field – articles 18a and 47g of the Polish Broadcasting Act of 29 December 1992.
