Ironia romantyczna w "Młodości Pana Twardowskiego" Jarosława Iwaszkiewicza - w świetle stanu badań

Abstract

In this paper the author discusses a digressive poem by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz The Youth of Mr. Twardowski with regard to romantic irony – a term introduced to literary studies by Friedrich Schlegel, one of the eminent representatives of early German Romanic period. Iwaszkiewicz draws on the ironic patterns predominantly through Juliusz Słowacki – the master of his literary youth. The transgression of ideas in the literary works is independent on one’s familiarity with particular texts, rather – it may issue from a certain historical context as well as social background and familiarity with works by others. Schlegel’s assumptions, brought forth in readings of prominent scholars, provide a significant context to Iwaszkiewicz’s early works.
