Synkretyczna perspektywa oglądu danych w badaniach historii słownictwa. Rozważania na przykładzie leksyki animalistycznej

Abstract

In the article, the author attempts to indicate the benefits that may be derivedfrom a broad overview of historical data, in the studies on diachronic lexicology.It has been assumed that a more complete picture of changes in the field may beobtained, if different overview perspectives and research tools, devised in varioussemantic and lexicological schools, were applied. Thus, the necessity of usinga possibly large number of extra‑linguistic historical sources, which wouldallow for the proper lexical analyses and obstruct the imposition of the contemporarylanguage user’s competences upon the material from years behind,has been emphasised. Furthermore, it has been agreed that such a perspectiveadopted in the observation of the old material is essential, and does not disruptthe coherence of the research subject description.
