Abstract: The development of settlement systems (towns and suburbs) caused by the social and economic changes results in travelling of the inhabitants to farther destinations exceeding the administrative borders of one district. The formation of new types of movement sources such as housing estates, enterprises, shopping and service centres as well as the function change of particular areas imposes the need of movement within the whole mutually-related urbanised system. Due to legal regulations, however, a single district (municipal corporation) is the entity responsible for municipal transport. Such decentralisation influences a tendency to create separate disintegrated municipal transport systems. That is why, in the urbanised regions, there is a need to act in order to integrate the municipal transport system in a given area. As a result of integration actions in an area of a given region a common system of transport should be formed, which will take into account, first and foremost, the needs of passengers. The article presents practices connected with integration of municipal transport applied in Upper Silesia conurbation.
