| Abstrakt: | Professional autonomy has its prize. An independent philologist nowadays must be ready to accept the dangerously increasing marginalization and limited need for his knowledge and competence, which leads to lowering the rank of this profession and intensifying the feeling of exclusion. The article author raises questions concerning the cultural conditions of this process and the possible actions that can be taken in order to enable philologists to regain the status they deserve and allow philology to strengthen its position in the globalizing world. |
