Leksemy motywowane przez "rzec" : o zmianach znaczeń, leksykalizacji i zanikaniu wyrazów

Abstract

The article deals with words motivated by the disappearing verb rzec [archaic form of say]. It offers a thorough semantic analysis of selected elements within the word‑formation nest of the word rzec, based on the etymological, historical, and contemporary dictionaries of the Polish language. The focus is mainly on the prefixed verbs formed from rzec/rzekać (such as odrzec, narzec, narzekać, wyrzec, and wyrzec się) and their derivatives – including those that disappeared from the Polish language over centuries or were separated semantically from their stems. The author attempts to indicate the causes of the disappearing of words and changes in their meanings which frequently lead to lexicalization.
