Określenia temporalne oznaczające fazę akcji (na tle innych wykładników fazowości)

Abstract

The phase of action is one of at least two temporal intervals, the total lengthof which constitutes the duration of a given state, process or activity. The lexicalphase indexes in the Polish language include verbs (of primary and secondaryphase), their derivatives (nouns and adjectives) and synonyms. The articleis an attempt to describe various temporal phrases (adverbs, adverbial clausesand particles), which also contain information about the phase of action. Fromamong the array of various phrases, the following ones have been selected anddescribed further: początkowo [initially], na początek [for a start], na początku [atthe beginning], z początku [at first], na koniec [finally], na końcu [at the end], w końcu[eventually, in the end], dalej [further], jeszcze [yet] and w dalszym ciągu [still]. Onthe basis of data obtained from the National Corpus of Polish Language, the followingqualities of these phrases have been discussed: their collocation (withverbs, also with phase ones), contexts of their use, and their possible ambiguityresulting from those contexts. This presentation, in turn, at least partially completesthe lexical field of phase indexes, most frequently limited to verbs.
