Abstract

In the article, two components which coexist and exert impact on one anotherhave been juxtaposed. One is the cultural stereotype deeply embedded in thesociety; the other one is language. The author analyses examples which illustratethe influence of stereotypical models on the linguistic picture of both sexes injokes about marriage and depict the way in which the authors of these humoroustexts emphasise the differences between a man and a woman by means ofsome selected linguistic elements. Moreover, on the basis of the analysed material,the author delineates changes that, throughout thirty years, have takenplace in the language of jokes.
