Abstract: The paper presents the tribological properties of oxide layers Al2O3 obtained on the EN AW-5251 aluminium alloy via a pulsed anodizing method in multi-component electrolyte. The anodizing process was conducted using a rectangular current waveform of variable frequency (0,02-200 Hz) and a variable duty cycle of the pulse (40-100%). Tribological tests were conducted in a pin-on-flate surface couple in reciprocating motion at the T-17 research stand simulating the conditions of cylinder/sealing contact of lubricant-free pneumatic servo-motors. The research results prove that application of the pulse method with a rectangular current waveform for hard anodization of aluminium alloys allows us to modify the tribological properties of anodic hard coatings.
