Abstract

Based on the existing findings and conclusions concerning the study of socrealistic novels, this article relates to the issue of male sexuality emerging from literary works of that period. It also indicates the source of the structure of social roles as reflected in the prose of the 1950s and investigates gender issues. The analysis concerns Eugeniusz Paukszta’s novel Lody pękają (The Ice Breaks), which seems representative in this respect and it also presents these issues vividly.
