Abstract

The dissertation discusses these among written records that testify to the fact thatOld Polish editions of the Sejm Sermons, against the long‑prevailingopinion of scholars,were not somewhat lost in extensive volumes which comprised the works of PiotrSkarga. Convincing arguments on the matter can be found in formally diverse elementsthat together constituted an editorial framework in editions of Kazania na niedzielei święta… (1597), Kazania o siedmi sakramentach… (1600) and Kazania przygodne… (1610).Detailed discussion of such elements of outer text delimitation as title formulas, tablesof contents, indexes, mottoes and marginalia is conducive to distilling all informationon the Jesuit’s political treaty and to determining the function of that information. Theanalyses are complemented by remarks on the influence of ecclesiastical censorship onthe final shape of the 1610 edition of the Sejm Sermons.
