| Abstrakt: | The essay constitutes an interpretation of three epigrams written by Jan Kochanowski, belonging to The Linden Tree cycle, with the use of various methodologies. The reading, which utilizes historical and literary contexts, and based on the interpretation of symbols, is juxtaposed with the ecocritical approach, which allows to read Kochanowski’s poems as texts on the place of man in relation to nature. Thanks to this approach, the linden tree ceases to be a signifier of something different (female deity, literary allusion, symbol of individuation) and is allowed to become a hospitable tree. |
