Abstract

The subject of author’s reflection is a literary image of a journalist ingrained in Bel Ami, a novel by Guy de Maupassant. It constitutes an important and significant voice in a discussion on an already modern society and professional group that has become an important element of the social order. A character that is a young stranger from a province, accidentally entering this group, and following the aim, it being career and success, can be called an important example of shaping a journalist as a worker of the press medium.
