Abstract: Due to their wide scope, the new media are gradually becoming the main socializing environment for children. Some scholars believe that nowadays the main language acquired by a child is their native language broadcast via omnipresent media. In the past, the world used to be described through the use of words and texts. Now it is shown with the use of pictures. The context of a word is replaced with the context of a picture. Words must be understood while pictures only need to be seen. The crucial issue discussed in the following paper is how this particular change, known as the iconization of culture influences the quality of the basic relationship between language and cognition, that is a cognitive style, a way of thinking and the impairment of communicative precision, all leading to the interpretability and the enhanced pragmatics of meanings and senses which are no longer used.
