Abstract

The topic of the publication is a well-known and controversial poem by Jarosław Rymkiewicz, To Jarosław Kaczyński. Whatever the author’s intention was, the poem leaked into the pop culture, starting its own life. It has been commented widely, especially in the press and on the internet, although its numerous interpretations lacked paying attention to the tradition it refers to. Usually it has been read in the context of politics and the events of the 10th April 2010, it provoked lots of comments and inspired some more Smolensk poems Since the poem was published, Rymkiewicz has become popular to some extent, even among people who haven’t known him before. This paper is supposed to answer the question what is the real idea of the poem and what the author wants to tell us in it (how the Mickiewicz’s vision of two Polands is realized in it).
