The article is a review of linguistic-didactic issues undertaken by the authors of the
articles which were published between 1977 and 2007 in twenty volumes of ,,Z Teorii
i Praktyki Dydaktycznej Języka Polskiego” series. The works were divided into two
1) descriptive articles, dissertations and essays. They present the condition of the
children and youth’s language, determinants of linguistic and spelling competence as well
as the level of pupils’ communicative skills;
2) articles concerned with didactics and dealing with the linguistic education at
school (suggestions of practical activities and linguistic-communication exercises).
The author concentrates on the results of researches presented in the articles.
Research fields were specified and their diagnostic profiles, the applied methodologies
and the influence of trends and linguistic theories on developing the research interests
were emphasised. The importance of the research on the language and pupils’ linguistic
