Abstract

A family in prose writing by Julian Stryjkowski is a broad topic, noticed by literary analysts of his writings and set in the circle of universal problems connected with the Jewish culture, orientating thinking on miszpacha towards mythological meanings, treating the value of home in the categories of the “last castle”, the place of consolidating religious traditions, space of the law with its elements, prohibition and orders, their obedience, faithfulness and exceptions which become the prime mover of novel‑like events in prose writings by Stryjkowski. It seems that childhood and a family home in novels of Galitia series are topics outlining especially tender and emotionally sensitive areas of memories reconstructed after years.
