Abstrakt: | The work presents the opinions (views) of the researched staff of pedagogical
young offenders’ homes and juvenile shelters (tutors, subject and profession teachers,
pedagogues, psychologists, therapists) and students of pedagogy; speciality:
rehabilitation with social prevention at the University of Silesia in Katowice
concerning juvenile delinquency, especially its prevention. The opinions of the
respondents were analysed on the basis of five elements (components) constituting
the models of reactions:
— cognitive elements — understanding the phenomenon, the state of the knowledge
concerning it,
— perceptive elements — perceive the phenomenon and various forms of behaviour
considered to be deviating from norm (deviant),
— emotional elements — the attitude to different conversational behaviours and
phenomena, the evaluation of their harmfulness,
— behavioural elements — opinions on which means and forms of recreation
should be used in case of the perpetrators of the behaviours evaluated (declared
behaviours),
— instrumental elements — taking actions in case of particular cases, events,
forms of behaviour.
The statistical analyses were deepened with expert interviews conducted with
visitators from Wydział Wykonywania Orzeczeń Rodzinnych i Nieletnich Departamentu
Wykonywania Orzeczeń i Probacji Ministerstwa Sprawiedliwości in
Warsaw, pedagogically supervising these institutions and principals of young offenders’
homes and juvenile shelterslocated in Silesian voivodship, i.e. in Zawiercie,
Pszczyna and Racibórz. The research results point to, among others, the need
to develop the system of early prevention which means working with families
affected by alcoholism, poverty, unemployment and violence, as well as taking
actions in school. Also it is necessary to work with the juvenile (secondary care)
after they leave rehabilitation institutions. |
