Abstract

Functional expressions constitute an open category characterizing an expressive situation, sender, receiver, intentionality, emotionality, modal attitude, temporalization, and specialization of an expression, its persuasiveness, etc. various relations between internal, notional elements of an expression illustrating the image of the world and its perception typical of a given language various relations between expressions of a given expression, somehow forced by their structural-syntactical qualities determinants of text coherence, anaphors, cataphoras, practical and hypotactic expressions referring to relations between sentences. Against the criteria worked out in the Middle Ages, functional expressions do appear, violating a verbal-nominal opposition, both in a subjective language and meta-language.
