"Doktor Dolittle i jego zwierzęta" - lektura ekokrytyczna

Abstract

Beata Mytych-Forajter’s text The Story of Doctor Dolittle — ecocritical reading is an attempt to reinterpret a children’s literature classic by using tools related with posthumanistically orientated literary studies. The title hero of the English novel series was a fictional answer to existential experience of powerlessness in the face of silent suffering of animals participating in the battles of the first World War. His character, emphasizing completely anti-anthropocentric hierarchy of values and anti-consumptionism, seems to match perfectly the demands of pragmatically oriented ecocriticism.
