Abstract

Children’s detective novels, which feature an amateur detective as the protagonist, spark curiosity of the world, inspire action, and teach how to think boldly. We have good Polish literature of the genre, and the detective is a very positive character in children’s fiction. New generations of readers become enchanted with Zbigniew Lengren’s story about Borek, Topek and Aza [Borek, Topek i Aza]. Intended for young readers (particularly those starting their education at primary school), Agnieszka Szczepanska’s Patka and Pepe: The First Riddle [Patka i Pepe. Pierwsza Zagadka], Patka and Pepe: Medusa’s Secret [Patka i Pepe. Tajemnica Meduzy], and Patka and Pepe: The Mystery of the Skyscraper [Patka i Pepe. Zagadka wieżowca] are intriguing, funny, and engaging detective stories. The merit of Agnieszka Szczepanska’s works is that they entertain and stimulate imagination. The books vitalize children, develop their intelligence, and show them the magnificence and comicality of the world.
