Abstract

This paper discusses the theoretical assumptions and practical applications of the Art – Design – Craft project that originated in the Department of Ceramics, Institute of Art, Faculty of Arts in Cieszyn. The author indicates that the project was launched with the aim of educating a conscious contemporary recipient of a utilitarian article. An essential role in this process is played by cultural identity, which expresses itself through noticing the reciprocal connection between form and function of an everyday article, which also applies to folk art. Etno design, based on these very values, contributes to the humanization of contemporary design. The author presents the stages of realization of the project and shows examples of created objects. She concludes that the aim of the project was drawing attention of the recipient and sensitizing them to the material culture and the beauty of everyday life.
