| Abstrakt: | The aim of the article is an attempt to (re)construct the word formation subentry of the adjective gorzki (bitter) which has constituted the basis for numerous derivates on the Polish ground since the Old‑Polish language. The first part of the work presents the etymology and semantics of the adjective gorzki, its semantic evolution and definitions taken from selected dictionaries of the Polish language. The second part introduces the derivates based on the stem gorzk‑ and its variants, excerpted from dictionaries registering the Polish language of the past and contemporary lexis. |
