Zalecające aspekty przedmów do modlitewników z XVIII stulecia

Abstract

The analyses included in the present article are based of forewords that preface four prayer books from the 18th century. Their poetic qualities and functions performed by prefatory statements to the main body of a given work, directed to users of those books, are the central point of analysis herein. Another topic considered by the author are similarities and differences between the recommendations directed to the Catholic followers and the Protestant ones. What is more, the considerations highlight a similar type of arguing aimed at encouraging the prospective readers to a purchase of prayer books. The study is completed with observations regarding content, compositional, and spiritual advantages of the said portable publications.
