Cholonek, czyli obraz Górnoślązaków? Kilka uwag o powieści Janoscha z perspektywy imagologicznej

Abstract

The following article is an attempt to re-read the famous novel Cholonek albo dobry Pan Bóg z gliny by Janosch. Contrary to popular opinions that the novel shows the true image of the Upper Silesia and its residents, the author tries to find a different point of view. The analysis focuses on the auto- and heterostereotypes of the Upper Silesians, the narrative perspective and the aesthetics of the text. The conclusion is that the technics of unreliable narrator, repetition and hyperrealism undermine the realism and question the suggested compatibility of the story with the regional reality.
