Abstract

The perception and definition of woman and femininity underwent many changes across centuries. I n modern literature there is an ever frequent tendency to present women who departs from the framework which is imposed upon them. It is in this way that Julia Fiedorczuk constructs her heroines in the stories from the volume Poranek Marii i inne opowiadania. T he women in Julia Fiedorczuk’s short stories attempt to liberate themselves from the models which are imposed upon them and the author herself attempts to present her idea of a new definition of femininity which eludes stereotypes.
