Abstract: | The Greek word oikos is the core of oikology, ecology, and economy. Nowadays, where the world is ruled by globalism and consumerism, the first two disciplines have been influenced by economy. It seems that nature is objectified more than ever and is only seen as an another raw material fated to exploitation. Therefore, it is essential to look at nature – our home, our world from a different, maybe even opposite, side. Here comes the perspective of geopoetics indwelling the world. Kenneth White’s geopoetics gives us some advices how we can participate in creating a new era in which the Earth is not only a material, an object or a thing, but above all, a “place, space, territory”, which can be cultivated by a humankind in a poetic, gentle and what is the most important – conscious way. It is also necessary to know that the world can not be cultivated without cultivating ourselves and without finding an authentic existence in this world. |
