Abstract: A lullaby is a soothing song usually sung to childre before they go to sleep. The idea is that the song sung by a familiar and beautiful voice will lull the child to sleep. The questions asked in the article concern the consistency of the contemporary “genre disintegration”. For example, Kołysanka (Lullaby) by Andrzej Niewiadomski, apart form the effects of references to a traditional folk songs, presents the meanings evoked by apostrophes directed at the dead (text seeking true face of the dead person in the relations established by a lyric communication) confronted with the language of traditional genre form of lullaby. The whole, revolved around the elegiac tendencies, appears to be a realization of the contemporary poetic lullaby – a genre still possible in the impossible world. The similar realizations of this form can be found in the texts by Józef Czechowicz, Czesław Miłosz, Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński.
