| Abstract: | In this paper I would like to discuss some ways of expressing the Speaker’s (S) good attitude towards the Hearer (H), namely compliments and congratulations. Expressing compliments or congratulating H on something S tries to tell H, using Wierzbicka’s “universal semantic primitives”: “I want to say something good about you.” (Fragment tekstu). |
