Abstract: | Death is a experience, which is situated beetwen sacrum and profanum, individual and
collective, general and intimate. It seems to be inexpressible, but (of course not only) in literature
writers undertake trials showing (what is interpreted as accustomed) death through analysis of
language, which the writers talk about her. Authoress is interested in linguistic ways, which the
modem writers use to showing mortality in Polish prose after 1989 (Zapiski z nocnych dyżurów
by Jacek Baczak, Metafizyka mięsa by Jolanta Brach-Czaina). Frequently the modem writers deny to sacral discourse, like Brach-Czaina, who remind about
meat aspect of mortality or Baczak, who gives metaphisical-naturalistic “lesson of anatomy”,
undergrown antropoloical reflection on relation of man to his sacral-squalid body. Death is
something natural. It has also very natural explanation: disease and old age. To uncover intimacy
of mortality partly submitted strategy of spectacle: it’s perceptible by prism of art and we can see
sense od death.
Different ways talking about death prove that it’s very complicated issue. |
