| Abstract: | The article analyses the strategies relating to the translation of linguistic errors. The illustrating example is the novel Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad compared with its four Polish translations. The analysis covers the translations by Emilia Węsławska, Aniela Zagórska, Michal Kłobukowski and Michal Filipczuk. The translators’ solutions are examined on the basis of selected speech samples of several characters (two Germans, an Italian or Greek (Mariani) and the half-caste captain). |
