Gry z konwencjami gatunkowymi w paradach "Gil zakochany" i "Gil małżonkiem" Jana Potockiego

Abstract

Bullfinch a Husband, a recently found parade written by Jan Potocki, is a remarkable work in Potocki’s theatrical output, for it an extension of his earlier parade entitled Bullfinch in Love. The article thus analyses these two works from the perspective of meta-literary elements, and plays with genre conventions. A selection of many shifts in the genre of the parade, such as modifying the main intrigue or providing protagonists with the awareness of literary genre conventions, presents a portrayal of Potocki as a comic writer who introduces to his – light yet ripe with humor – comic works a reflection on the significance and forms of literature and theater.
